Allegro MicroSystems A31316 3D Hall-Effect Magnetic Position Sensor IC

Allegro MicroSystems A31316 3D Hall-Effect Magnetic Position Sensor IC is designed for on-/off-axis rotary and linear stroke position measurement in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications. The robust sensor IC integrates vertical and planar Hall-effect elements with precision temperature-compensation circuitry to detect two of three magnetic field components (X, Y, and Z). Configurable signal processing, linearization, and angle calculation allow the A31316 to accurately resolve the absolute rotary (full 360° and short stroke <360°) or linear position of a moving magnetic target.

PWM or SENT (SAE J2716) interface options output the angle between the two factory-selected axes or the field from a single axis. In addition, the SENT interface provides the option to output the field measurement from both channels. Integrated on-chip EEPROM technology enables flexible programming of the configuration and calibration parameters, including bits for customer device identification purposes.

The Allegro MicroSystems A31316 3D Hall-Effect Magnetic Position Sensor IC contains on-chip diagnostic features required for high-reliability automotive applications, including monitors of internal and external fault conditions. The sensor IC is developed in accordance with ISO 26262 as a hardware safety element out of context (SEooC) with ASIL B capability for use in automotive safety-related systems when integrated and used in the manner prescribed.
